It's Working!

It's finally happening! My baby is slowly, but surely moving into the world of undies and big-boydom. We've had some frustrating moments, (mostly regarding poop) but things are progressing.

Smarty puts a sticker on a chart each time he goes in the potty, and after he completes a row, he gets a little car. When he's fully trained he will receive the much coveted 'shake 'n go' car.

Now some of you, that are in that habit of knowing about our schedule, may be thinking, "Aren't you leaving Monday, on a 14 hour drive to Arizona, for a two-week vacation, without Dad, no less?" And you'd be right.

For the last few days I've been internally screaming, "I'm so thrilled that this is happening, but aside from the week I was in the hospital having surgery, I'm not sure that there is a less convenient week in this entire year that we could be doing this!!"

But when my sweet son gets up from the potty chair, throws his arms around me and says, "I go pee! Make you happy?" What can I say? I'm totally bowled over! We're hauling with us the potty chair, the stickers, the cars, and everything else we might need. We will absolutely give it our best and roll with the punches.

But if a long vacation, without Dad, proves to stressful to continue, that will be okay too... Oh sorry, just talking to myself there for a minute!

Wish us luck y'all! I'll check in upon our return, hopefully with news of success.

You have a great attitude!
I am glad the cars work. You have to find the one thing that makes a difference.
For Dan it was Oriental trading Magazines (sp) " if you go potty you can look at the magazine" Worked like a charm.
Have Fun!!!

You probably won't get this comment until you return from your trip, but don't hesitate to teach and/or let him pee in the bushes, on the lawn, or side of the road,I have always thought it was very fun(and enjoyable)(much more fun than a potty), just make sure he doesn't face anyone whil'st doing so, and I am sure it is better than peeing in his underroo's. Smarty is a Good Man. I am a bad influence :)
