It's All About Perspective

Like most kids, mine love to scream. It often begins the moment they are buckled in the back of the car and continues until I yank them back out again. Smarty can really muster up some blood-curdling, banshe-esk types, and Sweety does his best, but so far the biggest thing about his screams are the grins that accompany them.

My response to all of this? I frequently let them know that they're a couple of "screamy-beamies" much to their delight. I probably shouldn't allow such behavior, but for the most part, I find it amusing too. I think it's great they enjoy interacting with each other.

So here's the fun part. Last night, on the way home from a family party, we were blasting Charlotte Church's Dream A Dream. (Good stuff!) But just as she was finishing the last few triumphant notes of "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" Smarty sighed and in a most serious tone announced the she was "a big screamy-beamy!"

Ah, from the mouth of babes. Ben and I had a good laugh, but what can I say, he's right!

The screaming would drive me nuts, you are a much more patient woman than I am.

That is so cute. Enjoy, cause it ends so soon. When we drove to see grandmas in SLC and I needed a break from either arguing or screaming, I'd tell them if they found a pink VW I'd give them $5. They were quite popular in my childhood, but had since been more scarce, so I was safe. It kept them looking at other things and soon, they'd ask questions.
