How to Flush $100 in Less Than 30 Min!

Our phone has been on the fritz. And because I'm too cheap to pay for high speed, we've had no internet either. grrr... We finally broke down and called the repair guy. ggrrrrr! He showed up at a time not at all close to the 4 hours they asked us to earmark and said that our connection to the box was just fine. cha-ching, that cost $85! Then he decided that the wire connected directly to the phone was bad and snipped it into little bitty pieces.

I swear when he left, everything was working! A short time later I was off to Home Depot to replace the wire that was unnecessarily destroyed, ROAAR!!! and the wall jack that was apparently shorting in and out. grumble, grumble, complain My very capable husband was able to correctly diagnose and fix the problem. The worst part was that the repair guy said that we could have taken our own phone out to the box and tested the connection ourselves! #$*& #*$@&$#^!!! That would have been really great information to receive when we called in the first place!

So now we're sadder but wiser. There's a lesson to be learned here people!

And you didn't call me why?

You know I could have taken a few minutes from my day and at least tested your lines for you.

Yes, Kevin and I can work on phone lines. Sorry that it cost you.

I can sympathize with you! We had a similar problem in our old house. And we also had to call a repairman to find out that we could have just fixed it ourselves. I hate it when we have to learn a lesson in an expensive way!

I totaly understand! I think that has happend a few times to us over the years. The most recent mistake with throwing away money was literly throwing it away.

My grandmother taught my mother who taught me that every woman should have a "rat hole" When you have an extra dollar here and there you stuff it in a "rat hole" then on a "rainy day" you have some extra $$.
Well, I followed their advice, and had about $200 in my little "rat hole" (only took 5 years...grrr). Anyway, I got into this cleaning kick one week...and I THREW IT AWAY!!!! (It was in a cardbord jewelery box holder thingie..) I didnt even realize it unitl the next week. I JUST THREW IT AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UG! Im still upset, and its been 2 months!

Man, I was wondering where you were. I missed reading your fun stuff! Glad everything is fixed, although it cost so much. That is not good. I hope everything is going ok.
Give your boys a hug from me.
