Guess what y'all...
Sweety is cutting a third tooth!! (bottom, middle, left) Did you do the math? That's 3 in 5 days! Holy bananas! He's really being a trouper about it though. Keep 'em comin' Sweety!
Okay, on to other matters. As a mother, I constantly worry about finding the middle ground. I think it's so easy to jump to the extremes of most any issue, but it seems that more often than not, the best approach is somewhere in the middle.
At the moment I am trying to find the place where my children's issues are challenges and obstacles to overcome. Obviously this is not a conflict limited to families with apraxia or other conditions. We all bump into difficulties. I absolutely want to avoid being complacent and debilitating my kids by making excuses for them, but there is the other hand too.
Yesterday Sweety did speech therapy, and today he did physical therapy. Both times we worked really hard, and he was warn out and crying by the time the therapist left. Where's the point where I go from healthy encourager to slave driver?
I'm still totally in the dark on this with regard to Smarty's terrible fear of food. I know so many adults who hate certain foods because they were forced to eat them as a child, but Smarty can't survive on Pediasure and snack foods forever! Can he?
Blagh! It makes me crazy!

Well, I think that is part of being a parent. You now get to raise, or raze, your own kids. Remember those times when you would see other parents do things that you thought were totally wrong? Now you understand why people sometimes make mistakes that seem so obvious to someone else.
I am sure that your boys have the best parents they could possibly get. As long as you continue to try, I am sure that they, and you, will be just fine. You definitely have far more patience than I could muster on a good day. Besides, you have your own fantastic parents to provide as much good advise as you can stand.
I think he could survive on pediasure and snack foods for quite a while. The pediasure should have pretty much everything in it right? I am with you on the forcing them though. It's hard to find a balance.
My oldest kid is quite the picky eater too. There are only a handful of things he will eat willingly and even fewer that he'll eat with bribery! I wonder how he manages to survive on peanut butter and Cheerios. If you ever figure out some great trick to convincing them to eat, I'd love to hear it. Until then I guess we do the best we can and pray that it's good enough!
I understand the feeling of wonderng where the boundries of being a healthy encourager or slave driver. I think if you didnt know there were boundries, that is where you would fail. You need to push your kids without pushing too hard. Saying its the easy part. Figuring out how to do that...harder.
Keep introducing new foods. One day, you will think back and it will just be a memory (same goes with potty training!LOL)
