Hooray, hooray! Thank Heaven above Sweety's almost back on the height chart!!! At our last check-up he measured just a notch below the 0 line. When he shot through a clothing size in about 5 or 6 weeks we anticipated some good news, but jumping from -17% to -1% in three months surpassed our expectations! His weight is hovering at -15%, but his height is the greater concern. Sweety is a good eater and getting what he should nutritionally. We believe that when he needs to plump up, he has the ability to do so.
Sweety no longer qualifies for a physical therapist either. While we will miss visiting with Karen from Early Intervention, we're thrilled that Sweety has gained confidence and skill enough to master his milestones. At his last evaluation he demonstrated his exceptional fine motor skills by stacking 1"x1" blocks, which is something 3-year-olds can struggle with! (he's about 22 months old)He will continue with his Speech Therapist, Portia, but we're comfortable with his work there too. His speech output measures at about 13 months at the moment, which means he's only made about 9 months improvement throughout the last year. But that could be because he's been so focused on physical development. He is imitating, which is perhaps the most important skill to master in speech development.

Smarty's maturity is slowly overtaking his textural fears. In the last month or so he has mustered up the courage to lick or sample broccoli, peaches, baked beans, and a few other 'untouchables.' And at a booth we recently visited put on by some Utah State science students, he nearly ate a freeze-dried cricket! (More on that later)

Smarty is sailing right through his social development goals and steadily improving his speech. He is great at writing his name and loves to try writing the rest of our names too. His interest in drawing and coloring is growing as well.
Thanks for all your good work boys! We love ya!

Wow my kids won't even put broccoli anywhere near their face let alone lick it. That is a big deal.
