Well, we made it. Ben and I took our last final exams on Tuesday night, and the semester is officially over. He is graduating from Weber State University with his Associate's in Automotive Technology this semester, and looking forward to some time off before moving on to the next phase of his education.
Also on Tuesday, we met with the Stake President who informed us that after nearly 3 years, Ben will soon be released from his calling as Elder's Quorum President. We both have some pretty mixed emotions about this. Ben has put his heart and soul into serving the men in his quorum and worries so much about their care. But he is eager to move on to his next task, which happens to be another job he is well-suited for.
I have learned and grown a great deal as at first I fought against this calling, then learned to accept it, and eventually embraced and loved Ben's work. I'm stunned to admit it, but I will miss having Ben in this position. We were both able to be part of some amazing experiences and got to know some incredible people, some of whom will be our life-long friends. I will always be grateful for that.
However.... I am THRILLED that I won't be playing the single mom part quite so much anymore!!!! Welcome home Ben! We've missed you! All right, all right. I'm exaggerating a tad. Seriously though, it will be great to have him home a little more, especially on Sundays.
And now, I'm looking forward to what may be the most relaxing Christmas season I have ever embarked upon. Our schedule is darn-near blank compared to years passed, and I'm loving that idea. Here's hoping we spend many of these next few nights home and together as a family.
May you all have as Merry of a Christmas as we're having!

Congrats to both of you on being done with finals and Ben to being done! That's always a great feeling. Hope your holidays are very relaxing.
You guys have some serious gumption! Keep it up. Tell Ben congrats as well. Hope you keep that holiday schedule nice and clear so you can have lots of family time relaxing together.
Wow, congratulations! You made it!
Isn't if funny when a calling ends? And you realize how much it has helped. I hope your Christmas stays relaxed, that's how it should be!
I totally understand how you feel about having Ben home a little more. I feel like I don't see Ryan EVER. With him as executive secretary and me as YW president, one or the other of us is ALWAYS at some meeting or church function. Sundays are a little crazy at our house trying to juggle the kids!
Enjoy the time together while you can. When you are willing to serve, there is always another place that you are needed!
BTW I love being able to stay updated with you and your sweet family. Hope your holidays are wonderful and stress free! :)
Hey now that Ben has some free time... Jk
Don't get too comfortable. I've observed that from Elder's Quorum president it's a short leap to the bishopric. hee hee Or perhaps the young women's president for you. Relief Society? Enjoy the time.
