Glad for Good Health

I am so lucky! I live with my best friends. I am surrounded by people I love. I have plenty of food in my belly. My life is full of opportunities for stimulation and education. I am warm in the winter and cool in the summer. But today I am especially thankful for my good health.

My body puts up with lots of abuse, and yet, all of my limbs are in perfect working order, my mind is clear and able to reason and process, and all of my organs and internal systems are plugging right along. No foreign substances threaten to destroy anything inside me. Every minor glitch in my health has been successfully resolved and long forgotten by my body.

It's amazing to make plans and move about my life and take for granted that my body will cooperate. How cool is it that I never have to organize my life around limitations?

It's not fair that I am so lucky and manage to ignore it most of the time, when the world is full of people who have to put up with all kinds of limitations or fight for the privilege of living at all. Why should it be so? And yet, I trust that all of us are given the challenges that will help us grow best.

Henceforth, I pledge to be consciously grateful for all of the things my body can do, and let go of my detest for its flaws. Having said that, will someone please be good enough to email this post to me in a month when I hit my next bad hair, zit face, flabby belly day and have forgotten to focus on how lucky I am?!!!!

Great reminder of what a blessing it is to have good health. Working at LDS Family Services reminds me often of the blessing it is to have a good mind that can reason and function...and it seems like every day I am reminded of my physical health by those around us who are sick. Thanks Lyn!

What a great reminder to us all. When I got to the last line I laughed out loud!!! What a great woman you are, and how blessed I feel to have you in my life.
